About Me

Kacie Collins was born and raised in the Detroit area. She began her training at Gotta Dance Studios. Throughout the years Kacie was part of the Detroit Pistons Entertainment team on the Motor City Minis from 2017-2019. She joined Hollywood Connection’s The Teen Company in 2018 working closely with the faculty, specifically the artistic directors over the years Mitchel Federan, Kristin McQuaid, and Aaron Czuprenski; being named company captain during her third year. From 2019-2023, she spent her summers choreographing and performing with the USPBL Dance Crew, working closely alongside Lesley Kay. During her summers off, she loves to teach and choreograph across the state of Michigan. Teaching hip hop, contemporary fusion, and improv classes, in addition to,  choreographing competition and halftime pieces for dance teams and studios. Recently, Kacie graduated from Chapman University as a Dance BFA in May 2025. She spent four years as a member of the University’s hip-hop club Team Shaka, and her last two years as Co-Vice President then Co-President, respectively. At Chapman, Kacie furthered her artistic knowledge and prepared for her future career in the dance industry. She hopes to bring the knowledge gained from her experience in the industry to her hometown, Detroit, and help further its revival of the dance community, pouring love, support, and artistry back into it, as it poured into her.

Artist Statement

As a dancer and choreographer, I draw inspiration from the culture around me, particularly my hometown, Detroit. My work, rooted in hip hop, spans old school, jazz funk, and contemporary styles. Motivated by self-expression, my choreography is a reflection of my life, blending grit and honesty with bold, straightforward messages, and at times a bit of sarcasm and shade.

Teaching Statement

I discovered my passion for teaching through leadership roles at my dance studio, where I found joy in helping others grow artistically and personally. Teaching allows me to both guide and learn from my students, creating a mutual exchange of creativity and discovery. I use practice and guided discovery styles, encouraging students to take ownership of their learning and explore movement through critical thinking and creativity. I advocate for students by fostering a judgment-free space where mistakes are part of learning, offering constructive feedback and moments of levity to build trust and motivation. My goal is to help students reconnect with their artistic voice, especially those rediscovering their love for dance, and to expand access to dance in underserved communities. I see myself nurturing growth, honoring individuality, and challenging students to build strength through struggle. My ultimate hope is to inspire even one dancer each class, knowing that can ignite a lasting ripple effect.
